Year 6 Residential

From Tuesday to Thursday this week, Year 6 embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the Isle of Wight! The excitement began with a breezy ferry ride, (with some asking where the duty-free area was!) and a majestic stroll through Osborne House, soaking up the grandeur of Queen Victoria’s holiday home, and 'paddling' at her private beach, with some interesting interpretations of what consists of paddling. The day ended with sandy games on Sandown beach, laughter in the sea air, and mugs of hot chocolate back at the Sandringham Hotel — the perfect wind-down before bed and the view of the sunset over the bay from their windows. Wednesday kicked off with a breakfast feast (cereal, toast and melon — naturally!) before Group 1 travelled back in time at Carisbrooke Castle, learning about its historical inhabitants over the last 900 years, ascending the castle walls and making friends with the donkeys, Jigsaw and Jupiter. Their afternoon was packed with a nature scavenger hunt in Fort Victoria and a thrilling boat ride to the Needles after token fun at Alum Bay. Meanwhile, Group 2 made waves — literally — at Tackt-Isle in St. Helens, mastering paddleboarding and canoeing with determination and plenty of splash! After a jam-packed day, both groups reunited for an epic arcade evening where tickets flew and plastic prizes reigned supreme. On Thursday, the groups swapped adventures, with spirits high despite a sprinkle of rain. Throughout it all, the children shone with impeccable manners, resilience and teamwork — even drawing praise from the public for their respectful behaviour. What a brilliant few days — a trip to remember!
