Welcome

Welcome to Thames Ditton Junior School

Welcome to Thames Ditton Junior School's website.  I am proud to be the Headteacher of such a vibrant and successful school and to represent a staff who are ambitious for our children.  Our excellent academic results affirm the dedication and hard work of our children and staff, and the support of our parents and families; this success puts our children in prime positions in an increasingly competitive world.  We know, however, that learning is about more than this; we are determined to support our students in Thames Ditton - it is resilience and strength of character; the development of this in school, alongside a curiosity and zest for learning, and the embedding of growth mindsets that ensures our children can flourish, progressing confidently to the next stages of their academic, working or personal journeys.  I am lucky to have a staff team here who work incredibly hard to motivate, challenge and support all learners to achieve endless possibilities.

Our children are at the heart of all we do here.  Our values are important to us.  We all strive to develop these values: determination, honesty, respect, kindness, co-operation, responsibility and belonging in order that our children leave us equipped ready for their future.  We spot individual talents and nurture everyone here, so that all children experience success.  We ensure our children acquire high standards at English and maths.  However, we also want our school to be an exciting place to learn, where pupils have an opportunity to develop other skills and to fulfil their all-round potential by providing opportunities in sport, music and the arts.  Education is a partnership between home and school and we expect your interest and value your support.

I hope this website gives you as much information as you need about our school, our staff and a flavour of the many activities your child can enjoy here in our school:  a place to learn, a place to grow.

If you'd like to come and visit us, a warm welcome will await you.

A message from our interim headteacher

I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed as the new Headteacher during Mrs Starritt’s maternity leave, and I am very keen to get to know all of the wonderful pupils, families and staff at TDJS.

From my experience as a Deputy Head, I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together to ensure the very best for the children. I am aware of the hard work by Mrs Starritt, the senior leadership team and the rest of the staff at TDJS and I am really looking forward to supporting the school through the rest of the year.  As parents and carers, you make an important contribution to your children's achievements, and I am excited to build on the relationship between you and the school for everyone's benefit.
