Thames Ditton Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all our pupils. TDJS expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We believe that all pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment which includes the right to protection from all types of abuse; where staff are vigilant for signs of any pupil in distress and are confident about applying the processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.
TDJS follows the Surrey Safeguarding guidelines. The school’s Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, Addendum to Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy covering COVID-19 School Closure Arrangements, Safer Recruitment Procedure, Staff Code of Conduct and Procedures for Volunteers, Visitors, Supply Staff & Contractors - are key documents in enabling us to adhere to the guidelines.
Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment – and that we all feel safe in our environment.
If your child is ever concerned about their own safety or well-being that of a friend, they should talk to the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL). Talking helps, and if these people agree there is a problem, they will find other people to help – the designated Staff for Child Protection are below. They will then work together with other people to address the problems and ensure everyone is safe.
