Year 3 Pupils for September 2020
Applications can be made between 4th November 2019 and 15th January 2020 for September 2020. Applications can be made online at www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions Pupils will be informed of their school place on 16th April 2020. This place must be accepted or declined by 30th April 2020 either online or by returning the reply slip (if applicable).
If you have not been offered your first (or second) preference school - you are still strongly advised to accept the offer you have been given. Your child will then be placed on the waiting list for the school you listed as a higher preference. This waiting list is held by Surrey Admissions & Transport team until the end of August. You may contact them on 0300 200 1004. From September this waiting list will then be managed by our school. Your child will remain on this waiting list until the end of the 2020/21 Academic Year. If you wish them to remain on the waiting list after this date you must write to us or send an email to email@example.com
My child has been offered a place - what happens next?
Please see the letter below explaining what we as a school are doing in this current situation.
We are currently working on the induction packs that traditionally go out in July when we have our induction day. This year we will not be having an induction day for obvious reasons. The Office Team are currently working on the packs and will be hand delivering them towards the end of June.
Latest Update sent by email to all children on Surrey CC admission list: 2nd July 2020
Dear parents and carers,
I hope this email finds you well in such strange times.
We have been working in school to adapt our transition program this year and more information will follow next week.
By the end of the weekend, you should have received your Welcome Pack - most of which were hand-delivered by the office team. This includes a welcome letter (including details of class transitions and teachers), admission registration forms, photographic consent forms as well as information from the school governors, uniform and equipment lists. Please return any completed forms by hand or by post at the soonest opportunity.
I will be in touch with you next week and class teachers will be sending transition activities and videos to your children too. Before the summer, I will be sending out school information produced by the year 6 buddies to help prepare children to start with us here in September.
Finally, our parent induction meeting will still be taking place, however in a different format to usual. Please join us for a Zoom Webinar on Friday 10th July at 6:30pm - meeting details to follow. I am sure many questions you have will be answered during the presentation, and as there will be a limited opportunity to answer questions in this session, we would be grateful if you could email any in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org. Naturally, there will be questions that arise during the webinar, but if we can cover as many of these beforehand that would be helpful.
We are looking forward to welcoming you and your children to the school in September.
Head of Year 3 and Computing Subject Leader
Thames Ditton Junior School
If your child has been offered a place in our school for current Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 then please contact us as soon as possible. It may be possible to arrange a brief visit to our school before your child starts to enable them to meet both their new teacher and their class.
Class teachers usually arrange to pair new pupils up with one or more 'buddies' within their class to help them settle in quickly and to find their way around the school. Do take a look around our website to find out what our school can offer. If you have any questions then do please contact the School Office.
Prospective Parents' Evening
In previous years we have arranged the following: Parents of Year 2 children are warmly invited to a Prospective Parents' evening to find out about our school. This will take place on Wednesday 16th October 2019. Drinks will be served from 6.00pm with the meeting starting at 6.30pm. The meeting is expected to last around an hour. It is preferable to come without your children if possible. We are unsure at the present time what we will be able to offer this year. This page will be updated when we have further information.
