We currently have spaces in our Year 6 cohort for September. If you are interested in a place for your child, please contact the office.

Computing

At Thames Ditton Juniors we aim to ensure that children can become confident and effective users of Information, Communication Technology.

This is done by:

  • Helping all children to use ICT with purpose and enjoyment;
  • Raising children's awareness of keeping safe online; helping them to communicate responsibly and respectfully, and knowing how to report a problem;
  • Helping all children to develop a range of skills to exploit technology to enhance their learning experience;
  • Helping all children to become autonomous users of technology;
  • Meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum for Computing as fully as possible and helping all the children to reach the highest standards of achievement.

The school has a suite containing 32 desktop computers, allowing each child to have their own computer to work at during their Computing lessons. In some lessons children are taught explicit skills, however most sessions across the school are cross-curricular. The children are able to access their work from anywhere in the school building as each child has their own personal log-in which takes them straight to their ‘My Documents’ where they will find everything they have been working on right from Year 3 through to Year 6.

We also have two iPad caddies, fully funded by the Friends (our PTA), each containing 16 iPads. The children really enjoy using these as they are utilised within the classroom environment to perform online research, capture information, explore apps across all subjects, as well as being able to be used as a publishing tool.

Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard, iPad mirroring and a visualiser, enabling technology to be used as a teaching tool and resource for learning.
